Old Testament Prophecy

The Prophetic Books!

Finally! Here we are at the end of the Old Testament books. There are seventeen prophetic books in the Old Testament. They are divided into two groups, the Major Prophtes and the Minor prophets. This desgination has nothing to do with the importance of the prophecies but has to do with the length, the longer books being the Major Prophets and the shorter books being the Minor Prophets. There are five books of Major Prophets but only four Major Prophets because Jeremiah penned two of the books, Jeremiah and Lamentations. Here are the five books of the Major prophets:
Isaiah
Jeremiah
Lamintations
Ezkeiel
Daniel

It would be best to memorize the order of these five books of the Major Prophets before getting the Minor Prophets.

There are twelve books of the Minor Prophets and they are:

Hosea
Joel
Amos
Obadiah
Jonah
Micha
Nahum
Habakkuk
Zephaniah
Haggai
Malachi

Malachi is the last book of the Old Testament. Remember each testament begins with historical books and ends with the prophetic. There is about four hundred years between the end of the Old Testament and the beginning of the New Testament.
